You don’t want it – On being fit vs. getting fit and how to reach your goals

Often times when I talk to people about sports I hear stuff along the lines of “I like running, I just never get round to it” or “I want to get fit, but it is so hard”. Well, no, you do not like running. And you do not like getting fit. What you want is being fit and just having finished a workout. What you want is the feeling of accomplishment, but not the pain and struggle before that. So let’s talk about the difference between wanting to train and wanting to be in shape; let’s talk about priorities, habits and reaching your so called “goals”.

Training as a status symbol

A well built physique is a status symbol. It reflects you worked hard for it, no money can buy it, you cannot borrow it, you cannot inherit it, you cannot steal it. You cannot hold onto it without constant work. It shows discipline, it shows self-respect, it shows patience, work ethic and passion. That is what I do what I do

Why fit people are respected

Why do I respect fit people?

Because fit people with a physique is much more than how good they look.

A well-built physique is a status symbol. It reflects you worked hard for it. No money can buy it. You can not inherit it. You can not steal it. You can not borrow it. You can not hold onto it without constant work.

It shows dedication.

It shows discipline.

It shows self-respet.

It shows dignity.

It shows patience, work ethic, passion.

That’s why it is attractive to me.

The same applies for knowledge/education in a way.

Fitness motivation from the master himself

If you are talking about fighting as it is, with no rules, well then, baby, you’d better train every part of your body.

Bruce Lee

They say: Don’t skip leg day.

I say: Don’t skip any day!

Legs, Arms, Abs, Back, Core, the list goes on. Training is more than muscles, it is about mindset, coordination, strength, endurance, it has a lot of facets.

And this is not only about training for fighting, of course. It applies to any kind of training and is a good reminder of diversity in the gym (or wherever you may train)
