Being yourself

By being yourself, you put something wonderful in the world that was not there before.

Have you ever dreamt of mowing the lawn?

There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.

Beverly Sills

This might be very rational and materialistic, but there is a lot of truth in it.

No goal, no dream will be easy to achieve. I like the saying: ‘If it were easy, it were easy.

Nobody dreams of the easy stuff, because of the fact that it is easy. Have you ever dreamt of mowing the lawn? No? I thought so.

A goal is actually worth more the harder it becomes to achieve it. Therefore, when times get tough I like to think of it as an improvement. It means that I could be working on a lot of important tasks and meaningful goals.

But be careful: Not everything that is hard guarantees a desirable outcome, therefore you should avoid the mistake of working hard towards the wrong goals. Just keep in mind: There is no substitue for hard work when it comes to achieving your dreams.

Bullshit stories

The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it.

Jordan Belfort

When it comes to achieving your goals, you could be your own worst enemy.

Other people can be as negative as they want, as long as you keep your head up. But the moment you stop believing in yourself and in your goals, you are doomed to fail.

Stop telling yourself reasons why you won’t achieve something. Stop fearing that you might actually get what you dream of.

Start working on your goals and never stop believing in your ability to achieve them.

You own mindset and your attitude towards success is way more important than any other circumstance. Circumnstances can be altered or created, but no one will go into your head and alter your state of mind. That is your task, so start today and work on a positive, solution-oriented mindest!

Combine thought and action

To think is easy. To act is hard. But the hardest thing in the world is to act in accordance with your thinking.

A concept of time

If we do it now, we’ll never run out of time.

Anonymous

I really like this idea.

From a rational standpoint, you will run out of time eventually. But you won’t care as long as you are acutally present and working on something with focus and passion.

Have you ever worked yourself in some sort of frenzy over something? You probably have, but let me share this personal memory of mine:

I can clearly remember young me playing with lego bricks just for the sake of doing it. I did not know how much time I had and I did not care.

5 minutes? Go play Lego! 5 hours? Go play Lego!

Apparently the concept of “Meh, it’s not worth to start now, I just have some minutes left” is a mindset that we adapt as we get older but I want to encourage you to forget about it every now and then.

Lego_Time

Because, let’s be honest: Those moments when we forget about time and everything around us, when we focus just on the task we are doing, the game we are playing, the book we are reading, the person we are talking to, those are the moments that actually make us happy, the moments that make us feel alive.

Those are the moments we want in our lives.

When was the last time you were so absorbed in an activity that you completely forgort about your surroundings? If the answer is not ‘today‘, make a ‘today‘ out of it today!

And now excuse me, I might have to fish my Lego out of the basement.

The small things add up

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back, everything is different?

C. S. Lewis

Sometimes you might feel that you are going from day to day without any changes. But the changes are mostly small and often overlooked. In hindsight the changes are often way bigger and happen way faster than they actually do.

Trust yourself that change is happening and focus on steering yourself in the right direction.

Getting it done

The best job goes to the person who can get it done without passing the buck or coming back with excuses.

Napoleon Hill

See it from an employers’ or a clients’ perspective: You do want something to get done. You do not want to have to struggle with it, you just want someone to deal with it for you.

The best person to do this is the person who just gets the job done without any further complications. You do not want to deal with consecutive workers or with the problem itself, your want the first person you hired to get it over with.

That’s a crucial concept in why some people are favoured over others when it comes to giving out jobs.

Learn to be a problem-solver and focus on solutions, not on excuses or obstacles.
