Why do I respect fit people?
Because fit people with a physique is much more than how good they look.
A well-built physique is a status symbol. It reflects you worked hard for it. No money can buy it. You can not inherit it. You can not steal it. You can not borrow it. You can not hold onto it without constant work.
It shows dedication.
It shows discipline.
It shows self-respet.
It shows dignity.
It shows patience, work ethic, passion.
That’s why it is attractive to me.
The same applies for knowledge/education in a way.

I consider this one to be mainly a fitness/sports motivation, but you can apply it to many other things also:
Long term consistency beats short term intensity.
Bruce Lee
This is a simple, yet important concept. Doing 10 minutes of pushups or situps every day for 30 days is much better than doing half an hour every sunday for a month. Especially when it comes to training, wether muscle or brain training, it is about consitency and repition.
Progress takes time and the longer you train something, the more profound your knowledge will be in that field. This is why you can learn a language in a year but you won’t be able to master it in that time for example. And this is why discipline is so very important.
We are all used to little boosts of motivation every now and then. Suddenly you want to get fit, you get up early, hit the gym, eath healthy, you change your whole routine. This won’t last long, I can promise it. Instead, make small changes and focus on consistency. Start small, but don’t slack off. You will improve greatly, just be patient!

This sports motivation video contains great advice for anybody and speaks directly out of my soul. There are burning reasons within everyone to get up early, to train hard, work hard, do whatever one loves. You just have to find them and trust your gut.
Even more important is to mute your inner voice of automated excuses. Yes, your brain will find excuses for everything, always. Yes, they seem plausible on the first glance. No, they are not. They are distractions, obstacles that you have to overcome in order to get where you want to go!
The choice between the comfortable and the right thing to do is not always easy, but it gets easier with time. You can train discipline. No more excuses, start your training today!
If you are talking about fighting as it is, with no rules, well then, baby, you’d better train every part of your body.
Bruce Lee
They say: Don’t skip leg day.
I say: Don’t skip any day!
Legs, Arms, Abs, Back, Core, the list goes on. Training is more than muscles, it is about mindset, coordination, strength, endurance, it has a lot of facets.
And this is not only about training for fighting, of course. It applies to any kind of training and is a good reminder of diversity in the gym (or wherever you may train)

No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everybody on the couch!
Just get started!

Definitely also applicable in other parts of your life:
Lose as if you like it; win as if you were used to it.

The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses – behind the lines, in the gym and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.
Muhammad Ali
People sometimes think that competitions are won when they are held but in many cases that is wrong. Without preparations noone will win any competition or event.
If you carefully consider how and how well every participant is prepared you can get a pretty accurate picture of who is going to win.
The problem is that during preparation you do not get rewards. You work your ass of for the possible but not granted success. So believe in your success, trust your abilities and push through preparations!

Imagine the following situation:
You sit at home in November, it’s warm and cozy. You had planned to go for a run and take a refreshing shower afterwards, but that was hours ago and right now with the weather being all stormy and rainy all you want to do is sit back in your chair and enjoy a hot beverage. Well guess what? You get your ass up right now and go out there!
Life is an ongoing process of choosing between safety (out of fear and need for defense) and risk (for the sake of progress and growth). Make the growth choice a dozen times a day.
Abraham Harold Maslow
Yesterday you said tommorow and you know I’m right about this! Stop lying to yourself you lazy piece, pick yourself up and throw yourself out there.
I do not care wether it is your sports, a socially akward situation or studying you avoid, you stop that cowardly behaviour right now! Go out there and thank me later!

Advice from an older person:
Start lifting weights yesterday
I personally do not like lifting weights but this is not about hitting the gym or not it is about getting in shape, staying fit and healthy and starting at least right now.
You are either good at looking for solutions or good at looking for excuses, don’t chose the latter one!
