Fitness motivation from the master himself

If you are talking about fighting as it is, with no rules, well then, baby, you’d better train every part of your body.

Bruce Lee

They say: Don’t skip leg day.

I say: Don’t skip any day!

Legs, Arms, Abs, Back, Core, the list goes on. Training is more than muscles, it is about mindset, coordination, strength, endurance, it has a lot of facets.

And this is not only about training for fighting, of course. It applies to any kind of training and is a good reminder of diversity in the gym (or wherever you may train)

Take care of your default mindset [video]

The speech/text by David Foster Wallace alone is already absolutely incredible, but the video makes it even better. Enjoy and take something out of it:

Failure builds character

Achievements make proud, failure makes strong.

This is very important. While being successful is nice, it can also create the illusion of being unbeatable.

That’s why it is important to get a good beating once in a while. Not only does it form character, it is also a very potent teacher. Make good use of your failures and learn to worship them for their qualities.

Sometimes their is no obvious lesson in failure, but at least it will train your endurance. Being able to endure pain is a great quality, there is basically no failure that you can not make any use of!

Active inspiration

You can not wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club,

Jack London

Inspiration does not suddenly appear, it has to be created. Action creates inspiration. Start getting active and you will be pleasantly suprised.

Make choices [picture]

I used to walk into a room full of people and wonder if they liked me…

Now I look around and wonder if I like them.

It is important to make your mind up about who you want to hang around with.

The people closest to you have the greates influence on your character, you should choose them wisely. It is not your job to please everybody, nor is it your job to please random people.

First thing: Please yourself by being yourself. Become comfortable with who you are or form your character untill you are comfortable and content with who you are and what you stand for. Then you can decide wether you like people or not on your own standards.

This is how you should determine who to hang out with and whose words to listen to. Don’t let others dictate your behaviour but make conscious choices and listen only to the word of people you respect and trust for good reasons.

He who tries to please everybody will never succeed and loose his integrity as well as his happiness along the way.

Enjoy the new year to the fullest!

May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful. And don’t forget to make some art (write, draw or build or sing or live as only you can) and somewhere in the next year, I hope you suprise yourself.

Work on your character

Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.
