How the school system can fuck up your mind

Today I talked to a buddy at the university about nothing in particular when this happened:

Buddy: I’d be happy if I made more money than my professor some day.
Since we study economics I assured him that he probably will if he goes in the open economy
Him: Only if I am good at what I do.
Me: Well, are you?
Him: I don’t know if I will be
Me: Well, why wouldn’t you?
Him: How would I know, I have not written any tests so far

I could not believe that he actually said and believed that. He honestly thinks his success in tests and in university in general defines his later work life!

How can our school system fuck that hard with the mind of a young person? I can’t believe that people really think that way, this is so damn limiting!

What about following your dreams, believing in your ideas? What about the passion that young people always have? If you ask a child what he wants to be when he grows up he sure as hell won’t say: I wanna be a firefighter, but therefore I have to study hard and be an honorable person.

He will reply: I want to be James Bond, I want to be a firefighter, heck I want to be a billionaire!

I don’t say that education is not important or should be taken lightly but everything has to have boundaries and if you really think your success in several years from now on depends on how well you do in some tests right now, there must be something wrong.
How great must this pressure be? If I fail now, I won’t have a good job in ten years?

Wow, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT apply this attitude to your life!

Go where you want to go and take important tasks serious but damn have fun on the way and don’t worry too much. It will all work out! It always has and it always will work out, trust me on this one.

And now go out and enjoy yourself!

How to succeed

Successful people are not gifted; they just work hard, then succeed on purpose.

G.K. Nielson

It is not about talent, about having family money or being born in a certain city.

Success is about your inside, about youd mind and your soul. If you WANT success, if you are craving for success more than you crave for nothing else, then you will work hard in order to achieve it.

I can’t stress enough that behind all those “over night”-successes always lies a lot of hard work in the first place. Hard work is not often seen by the viewers and that is why success in general is often seen as a miracle, unfair distributed between all people.

Guess what? It is up to you to take your slice of the success-cake, the harder you work, the bigger it will be!

Why not?

If you have to question wether you do something or not,

you should not ask why but rather why not.

Phil

I just learned something about the career of Lena Meyer-Landrut. For those of you who don’t know her, she won the Eurovision Song Contest some time ago and became an over-night popstar in an instant. I don’t want to go into the topic of music or pop music, I don’t want to talk about taste or preferences.

What I do want to talk about is this: Before she started in that show, she never had anything to do with professional music. Neither did she play an instrument nor did she ever take singing lessons. You know why she attended the casting? She though: Why not, let’s try something new!

And now look where that attitude has brought her!

Again, I don’t want to rate the quality of her success, I just want to show you how you can impressively expand your possibilities just by applying the “why not”-attitude.

You can do it!

Let’s do this!

Okay, this is pretty rough stuff, but it is motivating like hell, enjoy!

If things went all medieval and you had to fight a guy like me over your girl, I’d ravage your ass and take her. You okay with that?

When your girl is out with her friends, she’s checkin’ me out because I’ve worked to improve my appearance and it shows. You okay with that?

You think you’re safe out here in this world? You think it’s okay to be this unfit, lazy little monger? You know you’re not safe in your job, I’m sure. Every day you go above and beyond to make sure that the cutthroat guillotine of labor supply doesn’t mutilate you into an unrecognizable, unemployed piece of shit. Why do you think it’s different with your fitness?

How’d you get to where you are? People look at you and laugh. People use you as a benchmark to change their own habits. You okay with that?

Let’s get it poppin’, kid. No relapses. It’s kill or be killed out here: it always has been. Sure, we changed the rules a little and added our own little trifling sense of justice and morality. But nothing’s really changed.

Don’t be one of these assholes making pathetic reoccurring attempts to change their lifestyle. Don’t whine about it. You’ve got self-discipline and nothing else in this life. You’ve got one try: to fail once is to fail every time. In six months, you’re either going to be a pathetic, guilt-ridden failure, or a fucking tribute to human will. Your bitch of a mother-in-law will make comments like “I can’t believe it…” Your girl will get nervous about how much you can accomplish just by setting your mind to it and start asking you to tell her she’s good enough for you. Assholes who taunted you will have nothing… nothing… to say. You did something they either simply couldn’t even begin, or tried and failed miserably.

And then when my girl is out with her friends, she’ll be checking you out, motherfucker. Let’s do this!

Hey you. Yes, you! Just do it!

Learn your lesson!

When you lose, don’t lose the lesson!

It’s easy.

Sometimes in life you will lose. Actually you will lose often, if you live life fullly.

So don’t be an idiot, don’t lose the lessons, life is teaching you!

Like yourself!

Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.

Maya Angelou

In my experience people tend to be too strict with themselves.

Especially people who are into self-improvement are often very self-concerned and say stuff like “I don’t like myself at the moment, I’m too lazy, to undisciplined, whatever.”

They think they have to behave according to their ideals, and therefore intrerpret the difference between ideal and reality as a lack of their own skill or quality.

The point is: Improving is more important than being the best! Self-Improvement and this whole motivation-branch is about improving your life every day, not about living the perfect life.

Therefore you have to forgive yourself, you have to like yourself and your life. In the end, who is going to like you, if you can’t like you for yourself?

Being happy with what you got and realizing that you, at this moment, are an awesome person, that is what it is all about. Work on that and everything else will be taken care of!

Have a nice day,

I have a question for you!

Okay, first of december, the year is almost over.

And I have but one question for you:

What would you do if you could not possibly fail?

Think about this question. Think about it honestly and deeply, ask yourself this question.

And then go out there and do what you love. Fuck risks, nothing counts as long as you avoid risks! Go for it!

You need desire!

Double-Quote time!

You need a strong desire in order to achieve greatness! Here are two awesome quotes to back this up:

Great success comes only with great ambition.

Jackie Chan

And

If your desire is pale and flabby, your achievements will also take on that hue and consistency. But, if you go after your subject with persistence, and with the energy of a bulldog after a cat, nothing underneath the Milky Way will defeat you!

Andrew Carnegie

Don’t panic

No matter what happens. Don’t panic!

Hendri Coetzee

No matter which way you choose in life, someday you’ll be faced with a situation you can’t cope with instantly. This is something everybody experiences once in a while. But something not everybody experiences is that loosing ones mind doesn’t solve any problem.

Instead believe that you can do this successfully somehow even when you are not aware of the way yet. And don’t panic…
