On time management

Recently you asked for some thougts on time management, so I put together some ideas that might help you get better results and actually achieve your goals.

Let’s start off by stating one of my all time favourites: You have the exact same 24 hours a day that anyone else has. Other people are capable of using it, so why shouldn’t you be? 24 hours are plenty of time, it is about how you make use of it.

In order for your time to be used better in the future, here is a list of 10 useful time management tips:

You don’t give up

You do what you can for as long as you can, and when you finally can’t, you do the next best thing. You back up, but you don’t give up.

From business to happiness

What do all happy people have in common? They are busy! They are busy working, meditating, playing games or just living life. They are not constantly searching for happiness, they do what they love and that’s how they get happy.

Happiness is a butterfly, which, when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.

Is it really about not having enough time?

Do we need more time? Or do we need to be more disciplined with the time we have?

Kerry Johnson

Are you sometimes wondering why other people are able to be more productive than you? Why they just seem to achieve more with the same amount of time?
It’s often not because they take more time and drop other things for that, but because they manage their time well.

Time management is a little bit about experience and priorities and a lot about discipline. Managing your time in theory is easy for most of us, but really following through is the hard part.

Start slowly and improve!

You set the priorities

You will never find time for anything. If you want the time, you must make it.

Charles Buxton

As I like to say: You’ve got the same 24 hours that everyone else has every day, make use of it.

You decide what you spend your time on and only you are responsible. Quit weeping around and complaining about not having enough time and make time for important stuff. One major tip: Work a job you love, not a job you can endure. That will make a great percentage of your time awesome instead of wasted.

Do you want to escape your life?

Instead of wondering where your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don’t need to escape from.

Seth Godin

I don’t mean this as a critic on traveling or vacations in general. You just have to make sure that those vacations are not the only things that keep you sane and happy.

Your life should be sufficient to make you happy, vacations should not be necessary but optional. Once this yearly vacation starts to be the only reason keeping you sane and calm, there is a lot wrong. Don’t go there, work on your life where you are living right now!
