What I’ve learned in business

Always take a job that is too big for you.

Harry Emerson Fosdick

Just do it!

You will learn more and faster this way, you will grow with your tasks and you will not regret it.

Always go for the big ones!

Doing nothing won’t get you anywhere

Learning is like rowing upsteam: Not to advance is to drop back.

It’s not about money

Sometimes you earn more doing the jobs that pay nothing.

Todd Ruthman

Of course you need money.

But that does not mean that you should not work unless you are being paid. Often times the jobs with bad or no pay at all are  wonderful oportunities.

You can always learn a lot from work, you meet new people, exchange information, enhance your skills. Use all those opportunities!

Do not let greed stop your constant growth.

Are you a dumb person?

Whenever you leave behind failure that means you’re doing better. If you think everything you’ve done has been great, you’re probably dumb.

Louis CK

Make mistakes, admit mistakes, remember mistakes.

About learning

As some of you may know, I am currently working on becoming a great learner and I found this to be very true:

Learning gives creativity, Creativity leads to thinking, Thinking provides knowledge, Knowledge makes you great.

Use your brains

Let me tell you something about me: I was never a good learner. You could say I never learned to learn.

Going through University right now this troubles me a lot as you can think and therefore I decided to quit complaining and put an end to it.

So recently I started my very own approach of learning how to learn and I found this to be very true:

The brain is liek a muscle. When it is in use we feel very good. Understanding is joyous.

Carl Sagan

Do not neglect your brains!

This does not apply solely to school, college or university but to every aspect of your life, be it work, hobbies or play.

Use your brains, educate yourself! It may be a rough start, but once you get used to it, you will enjoy it. A lot!

Take the lesson

Whenever you fall pick something up

Oswald Avery

A very nice metaphor for how you should deal with failure and loss. Take the best out of it and enjoy the good lesson. The harder the fall, the better the lesson.

Train, learn, succeed

It takes less time to do a thing right, than it does to explain why you did it wrong.

Henry Longfellow

Don’t waste your time with excuses while your could be busy succeeding.

Give it all, train hard and live free is a beatiful creed to live by.

Educate yourself

Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire.

Butler Yeats

Nurture your own fire. You will never have learned enough, not to speak of too much.

Read, listen, talk to older people, talk to younger people, be open-minded, try out new concepts, meditate, try different sports, get new hobbies, travel, experience. The world is your playground, why sit in one place and don’t move in any direction? Go for it!
