The essence of choice

You have no choice about your capacity to feel that something is good for you or evil, but what you will consider good or evil, what will give you joy or pain, what you will love or hate, desire or fear, depends on you standard of value. Emotions are inherent in you nature, but their content is dictated by your mind. Your emotional capacity is an empty motor, and you values are the fuel with which your mind fills it. If you choose a mix of contradictions, it will clog you motor, corrode your transmission and wreck you on your first attempt to move with a machine, which you, the driver, have corrupted.

This is a perfect post for today. Why? Because it is an awesome post and it contains a lot of basic and profound ideas that lie behind this blog.

You decide on who you are, what you can achieve, how you are percieved, if you are happy. You decide about your life. Do not seek fault in others, do not look for scapegoats. Instead look for solutions, look for work-arounds, make this world a better place.

Stop complaining, start improving. And better start with yourself, that’s where we all can improve the most!

And today I celebrate. I celebrate the 1000st post on motivatingdaily.com!

Thanks for your support, please feel free to share my work if you enjoy it!

Face your problems

When you chose not to face a problem, you accept the worst possible outcome as reality.

John Galt in Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged

Sometimes it seems so easy and comfortable to avoid problems. Doing nothing, just waiting for something to happen can be very tempting.

But by doing nothing you do not avoid a choice, you make one. Doing nothing about a problem is an active choice!

And by choosing to do nothing about a problem you accept the worst possible outcome as reality. You put up with a bad outcome just because you are too lazy to fight it.

So instead of letting people or circumstances create your reality, start to work on your own world, create your own ideals, your own moral code, make your own decisions, become responsible and educated in the most pure way possible.

Start to think and start to act on your own, trust yourself.

Failure is choice

When doubt seeps in, you got two raods, you can take either road. You can go to the left or you can go to the right and believe me, they’ll tell you failure is not an option. That is ridiculous. Failure is always an option. Failure is the most readily available option at all times, but it’s a choice. You can choose to fail or you can choose to succeed.

How to avoid regrets

Do the right thing. You know what the right thing is. Do the right thing, and you’ll never have any regrets.

Redoran Guard, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Inside yourself you know what the right thing to do is.

You don’t even have to think about it, you know it.

It can be chosing hard work over labour, it can be chosing having a hard talk over running away or whatever it is for you personally.

But you know what is right, so go and do it!

The weight of discipline is by far less than the weight of regret!
