Rejoice what you have

He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.

Make the best use of what is in your power, and take the rest as it is.

What do you want to be?

Quote

First say to yourself what you would be, then do what you have to do.

Start living in accord with reason

Quote

How long will you wait before you consider yourself capable of the best, and of living in accord with reason? You’re no longer a child, but an adult. If you’re negligent and lazy, keep delaying and making a collection of one good intention after another, naming day after day on which you’ll start to take care of yourself, you’ll just go on without getting better, and you’ll live and die miserable.

Choose your company

The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best.

Freedom and control

Freedom is the only worthy goal in life. It is won by disregarding things that lie beyong our control. Stop aspiring to be anyone other than your best self; for that does fall within your control.

So who do you hang out with?

The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best.

Epictetus

It is very important to keep people around you that challenge you to be a better person.

People that challenge you to be the best you possibly can be!

There is a saying that tells you that you can get the personality of a person by looking at its three closest friends and there is a lot of truth in this. The people who you constantly spent time with change you in a lot of ways, their behaviour reflects on you and you will eventually be changed by them.

If you keep lazy people around you, people without aims, without dreams, without passion then your dreams will rotten. They will slowly die and it is damn hard to work against that.

So be careful who you hang out with. It really is a game-changer to actively choose your peer group in order to grow. Think about it, think about who you hang out with and see what you get out of that.
