The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best.

It is very important to keep people around you that challenge you to be a better person.
People that challenge you to be the best you possibly can be!
There is a saying that tells you that you can get the personality of a person by looking at its three closest friends and there is a lot of truth in this. The people who you constantly spent time with change you in a lot of ways, their behaviour reflects on you and you will eventually be changed by them.
If you keep lazy people around you, people without aims, without dreams, without passion then your dreams will rotten. They will slowly die and it is damn hard to work against that.
So be careful who you hang out with. It really is a game-changer to actively choose your peer group in order to grow. Think about it, think about who you hang out with and see what you get out of that.

Great advice, thanks – this is something I have been struggling with lately as sometimes we grow out of our old friends and that is hard, because you still love them. I guess it’s about prioritising your time so you spend the most time with the most stimulating people for your own development.
Happy New Year!
