Happy! Hap- Hap- HAPPY!

Be happy for no reason, like a child.

If you are happy for a reason, you’re in trouble, because that reason can be taken away from you.

Deepak Chopra

It’s simple as that: Be happy.

Being happy is an independent state, not influenced by circumstances.

Be. Happy.

Take what you want

The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.

Ayn Rand

Why wait for permissions?

Why wait for the good things in life to come to you?

Take what you want! Do what you like and work hard for your goals. You will be surprised how well this simple formula works out.

And read Ayn Rand. Her books are long, complex and not an easy read. But it is worth every second you put into it.

Read Ayn Rand.

Ah well and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!  🙂

Maintain a helpful attitude

Don’t find fault, find a remedy.

Henry Ford

Who cares who is to blame? Problems want to be solved, solutions want to be created.

Seize the day and fix stuff, make this world a better place. We do not need more critics or nay-sayer.

We need people with positivity and kindness who do not care about blame or responsibility but roll up their sleeves and get to work with focus and creativity!

Like the proverb says: As long as you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

So for 2013 maybe you could try to start small and reduce your blaming. You will be suprised to find out how often it just does not matter who’s fault it was. Just drop it and nobody will care. Instead think solution-oriented, aim for a fix for the situation.

Soon you will realise that this attitude makes dealing with problems or failure a lot more easy for you and that people will recognize this. Eventually you can make a positive difference.

Apart from this, I want to wish every single one of you all of the best for the next year, may all of your plans and goals be achieved. And always remember: Chances favour the one in motion, so do not wait for fate to strike and help you out. Instead go out there and take what you want! It will work, trust in me, who trusts in you.

The lesser evil

It is your pick:

We must all suffer one of two things:

The pain of discipline or the pain of regret or disappointment.

Jim Rohn

I wish for you all that you find the strength to chose discipline over regret.

Adventure

So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future.

The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon for each day to have a new and different sun.

Into the Wild

Have you seen the movie? No? Go, watch it! Also: Awesome soundtrack by Eddie Vedder.

Focus!

Person who chases two rabbits catches neither.

Confucius

It is important to focus and to set priorities. You do not have the time, energy or skill to do several important tasks at once and if you try, you will realize that your work will be half-assed and not merely as good as if you had done them separately.

Know when to say no, know when to set priorities straight and know what to do with your time and energy. You are very powerful but you have to focus your abilities.

Compare yourself to a water hose. You can have a small opening to create a firm and tiny water jet or you can have a big fuzzy opening to create a undefined and unfocused water jet. In the latter case you will need unbelievable amounts of pressure to get a good and firm water jet while in the first case you have a way better output in terms of vigour with a lot less input power.

Focus will help you a lot to go easy an your resources.

Listen!

Most people do not listen with the intend to understand;

they listen with the intent to reply.

Stephen Covey

We all know the situtation: You listen to someone, just go “blabla, yes yes, I’m listening” and in your head you are preparing what you want to say and how you want to say it.

That is bad!

Don’t do it!

Instead try to really listen, try to really understand! That is why many people say that noone ever listens. Because listening is an active thing to do, not something passive.

About time

To realize the value of one year, ask a student who failed a grade.

To realize the value of one month, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of one week, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize the value of one day, ask the person who was born on February 29th.

To realize the value of one hour, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of one minute, ask a person who missed the train.

To realize the value of one second, ask a person who just avoided an accident.

To realize the value of one millisecond, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.

Time is extremely relative, it’s perception extremely subjective. Try to remember that.

Take on your troubles

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead. Some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat, I’m all ready you see.

Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!
