A thing about comfort zones

Hey there 🙂

Here’s a nice quote about comfort zones by Dean Hunt

I learned that comfort zones are like muscles, they contract or expand depending on how much you stretch them… I believe very little in life, and business of any real value is done from within our comfort zones. “Money is where the fear is”. Life is too damn short, and when we are lay on our death bed, it is the things we DIDN’T do in life that will plague us, not the things we could have done better.

So what is YOUR excuse?

The Only thing keeping you from living an extraordinary life is your story about why you can’t!

Jakob Sokol

A great quote by a young, yet very inspiring man. He runs sensophy.com, a page you might want to visit!

Check your habits!

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.

Jim Rohn

This is just how it works out in the end. Excellence is not a state or something you achieve, but habit!

What you repeatedly do is what shapes your life. You’ll become a good runner if you run daily, you’ll become a good writer if you write everyday. Just create the habits you need to get where you want and stick to them!

It is YOUR decision!

What I learned is that all of this is as simple as doing laundry or anything else. 100 times a day you make a choice of what to do: Turn on TV, or book a flight to Iceland? Browse Facebook, or contact your heroes? Relax, or create something new tonight? When you choose the “unrealistic” choice every day, you’ll be surprised how uncrowded and welcoming it is.

Wow! This is so fucking motivating, I can’t find any words to describe it. You probably won’t understand it untill you get to read the first part:

Derek Sivers answered the question what the most unrealistic thing he ever achieved was:

I graduated college in 2 years, started a little company that made me $30,000,000, learned to scuba dive in an arctic lake in Iceland in the deep fissure between the tectonic plates, slept with a movie star, watched Peter Gabriel run up to me to say he loved my work, toured Japan as the guitarist for a Japanese pop star, made friends with my favorite authors, and married the girl of my dreams. (Most of that was in the last 2 years.)

Again, WOW!

What makes a good leader?

You can’t be a good leader unless you generally like people. That is how you bring out the best in them.

Richard Branson

I think that there is a lot of truth in this quote. Many people fail as bosses or coaches simply because they are not genuinely interested in their employees/pupils. If you don’t like people just for being human and if you do not give a shit about how they work/ what they feel etc., you will NEVER EVER succeed as a leader.

Why? Because people are interested in themselves. They want to hear about what others think about them and they think about how they are seen by others. Often times people are so busy reflecting themselves that they have no time to express their true feelings at all.

And it is due to this egocentric attitude of human beings that you have to honestly care about them. How can you possibly be a good boss if you are not interested in your employees, but just in your own wellfare? Would you like a boss like that? Not at all.

And the point is: People are not stupid, you can’t fake interest in your followers. If you are simply not interested, they’ll notice. So be kind and openhearted or don’t try leading at all!

Are you lazy?

Laziness is quitting before you even get tired

Philipp Kleidt

Yep, that’s it. Do you see yourselve as a quitter? As someone who stops although he has plenty of energy and time left? A couch potato who thinks rather than does? Try not to become one, try to avoid lazyness in order to get a lot done.

The thing about having no time

The great dividing line between success and failure can be expressed in five words:

I did not have time.

Franklin Field

This is a very typical excuse for many things we do not do. Often times we have no reason at all not to do something, we simply don’t do it. I assume that most of my readers are German at the moment so I recommend this article about the excuse of having not time.

Think positive =)

It is very important to generate a good attitude, a good heart, as much as possible. From this, happiness in both the short term and the long term for both yourself and others will come.
