Morning depression?

Especially in the dark and cold time of the year it happens to people that they get sad. Right after they realize the alarm clock is ringing, demanding to start the day, people lose themselves in thoughts about life, about how senseless it is, how hard, the list goes on and on.

When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy and to love.

Marcus Aurelius Antoninus

You have to realize how grateful you should be for being alive.

The world is a super awesome place, a big playground and you can do whatever you like. Why waste your chances, aim for the moon!

“Sleep?!” He said. “Sleep is for those people who are broke. I have an opportunity to make a dream become a reality. I do not sleep.”

Sleep later

Success and rest don’t sleep together.

Russian Proverb

Yup, human beings need sleep, I know that. But I also know that sleep steals a lot of time. Time you could spend studying, training, working or even enjoying yourself, going out, reading a book etc.

Success needs effort and time so you should not be a person who likes to sleep 10 hours per day if you want to see results (in less than 40 years).

Make it a habit to sleep less then you are used to and work on still being fit anyway. It works, trust me.

Get up!

You will find the key to success under the alarm clock.

Benjamin Franklin

Rise and shine! Get up early and start your day, this is one of the most useful tips for getting stuff done, trust me!

So this post is one hour early. The first post in over a year to be not on time. Why you ask?

Well as you know I always liked the topic of sleep / getting up early. Lately I stumbled upon this great sports motivation video that really shouted in my face: You can do it!

So, don’t listen to your sleepyhead telling you to go back to sleep. Hit that asshole with a frying pan (or whatever lies next to your bed), get up and get going! You can do it!

About sleep

Brace yourselves, this is a big one!

I’ve always figured out that there 24 hours a day. You sleep six hours and have 18 hours left. Now, I know there are some of you out there that say well, wait a minute, I sleep eight hours or nine hours. Well, then, just sleep faster, I would recommend.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

I love this quote by Arnold which comes from a speech he gave at the University of Southern California on May 15th 2009. Not only is Arnold Schwarzenegger a perfect example of a successful person that does not sleep much, the speech also shows that even under great pressure (both for the mind and the body) you can do a shitload of amazing stuff. In fact: Without asking much from your body you won’t be able to sleep less. Here goes why:

Get rest

Work eight hours and sleep eight hours and make sure that they are not the same hours.

Boone Pickens

Well I certainly disagree with the 8 hours especially as a gerneal rule but it is important to keep your sleep free from distractions. Try to meditate before your sleep or keep a notepad at your bed so you don’t have to remember ideas but instead just write them down.

You have to protect your sleep. Good sleep is not a matter of time. You won’t feel more rested after 11 hours of lousy sleep than after a refreshing 5 hour badass sleep!

Trust me, sleep is a state where you don’t want any distractions, you want to have your mind cleared before you go to bed. Learn to do that and it will increase your life quality immensely!

Get up early!

There will be sleeping enough in the Grave.

Benjamin Franklin

Yep, we need sleep.

But ask yourself this: Do you need to sleep in again on 11 AM? Do you need to sleep in instead of getting out of your bed and getting stuff done?

I know it takes disciplin to get up early not only occasional but frequently, but it is damn worth it. Work on your skill to get up early, it will save you much truble in life!
