Use your days

Don’t be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of.

Charles Richards

Was yesterday really worth living? When it was, go on. When it wasn’t: Today is a new chance to try!

Leadership

The leaders who work most effectively, it seems to me, never say “I.” And that’s not because they have trained themselves not to say “I.” They don’t think “I.” They think “we”; they think “team.” They understand their job to be to make the team function. They accept responsibility and don’t sidestep it, but “we” gets the credit. This is what creates trust, what enables you to get the task done.

Habits are like magic

Chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken.

Warren Buffet

When it comes to long-term achieving, habits are the key.

Your habits, what you do day-in and day-out is what makes you as a person. Do you force yourself to get up on time in order to run before work or to you sleep until the last minute in order to “relax”? Do you drink or eat out of frustration or do you read or do sports? Small things like that, repeated often times, make you the person you are!

It is not “The one cool project” you made years ago that makes you the person you are, it is the daily routine you have every day. Think about that and try to adjust.

The cool thing: It takes time to adjust habits, but it gets easy after a while and it is effective as hell!

As a rule of thumb one can say: Do something for 21 consecutive days and your subconscious mind gets used to it in a way that makes the task easy for you after that time period. Of course these 21 days may vary from task to task and from person to person, but just try that out for yourself.

Want to gain fitness? All right, do 10 minutes of “exercise” (Whatever suits you) daily for 21 days. Just do it and see what happens, it is like magic.

Get your ideals straight!

Ideals are like stars: you will not succeed in touching them with your hands, but like the seafaring man on the desert of waters, you choose them as your guides, and following them you reach your destiny.

Carl Schurz

Personally I think ideals and moral kick ass!

Of course you change a lot in life and you have to keep things like that dynamic, but you can always maintain a clear path and chose integrity over douchy behaviour. People who live according to certain ideals and believe in some higher things than getting up in the morning in order to watch a certain TV show tend to live quite awesome lives.

Think about it: Do you have ideals? If the answer is “No” or a hestitation: Sit down and write some fucking NICE things down. Make these things your ideals! Why? Why not? Believe me, it will work out!

Be responsible!

The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny.

Albert Ellis

The day you start being responsible and stop blaming others for your misery or success is the day you truly start living!

Why? Because NO one but you can eventually change anything important in your life. As long as you don’t get this insight, you can’t be possibly helped.

Just listen how crazy this sounds: My life is controlled by external circumstances and I as a human being have no power to change it’s course.

Who are you kidding?

Overcome fear!

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.

Eleanor Roosevelt

It is hard to stress HOW important this is.

In order to get happy in life you HAVE to get comfortable with getting out of your comfort zone, no matter how crazy that might sound to you.

In 99% of the time the “easy” choice is sucky, while the risky one will turn out to be fun and awesome.

Do it!

Prepare for war!

One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation.

You catched a cold, did you?

Confidence is contagious. So is lack of confidence.

Vince Lombardi

When it comes to confidence it is interesting in what way you can have an impact on others and how they can influence you.

Your peer group and the people you hang out with on a regular basis are always a very strong indicator if you want to know where you are heading. The old saying “If you want to get to know a man, get to know his three closest friends” is not that wrong after all.

The good thing: Your confidence can motivate others to be confident too, if they want it or not! But be careful not to get dragged down.

Know who you are

The more you know who you are, and what you want, the less you let things upset you.

Bill Murray (Lost in Translation)

Don’t underestimate a solid self-perception. You will surely appreciate it as soon as you face the real tricky situation.
