walls show us how badly we want something

The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out; the brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. The brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They are there to stop the other people!

Randy Pausch

Open-minded to new ideas

You look and say ‘Why?’  But I dream and say ‘Why not?’

George Bernard Shaw

Anyone in history who was really successful and changed the world didn’t achieve this by just copying proved and tested ideas everyone is statisfied  with. You sometimes have to come up with something new or just be open-minded for new ideas of others. A change, a new problem, a unique situation often requires new ideas. So even when your ideas suck 100 times, don’t become narrow minded! Someday it will really help and will make the difference between you and your competitors.

don’t just give up

Nobody said it would be pleasant to do unpleasant things.

Douglas Adams

The way to success isn’t a straight wide road. Expecting it to be hard and difficult is the first step to cope with the obstacles you will be confronted with. This simply quote can keep you from loosing your motivation in the most important moments.

you won’t regret the things you DO

It is not the things we do in life that we regret on our death bed. It is the things we do not. Find your passion and follow it. […] We don’t beat the reaper by living longer, but living well, and living fully.

Randy Pausch

This extraordinary guy really knows what he is talking about. He hold that speech knowing he probably wouldn’t live another month. Even in his last days he enjoyed his life,

I’m dying, and I’m having fun. And I’m going to keep having fun every day I have left.

If you really want to, nothing can stop you from living life to its limits.

There is no use in playing small

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate; our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It’s our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves: Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually who are you not to be! You are a child of the universe. You playing small doesn’t serve the world. There is nothing enlightening about shrinking, so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. It is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. And as we all liberated from our own fear, our presence will automatically liberates others.

Marianne Williamson

This qoute really sums up my interpretation of motivation. The most effective way to motivate others is not to devalue yourself in order to make others feel better but being a role model and show others how it looks like to give your very best.

Living is a self-service deal

You got a dream, you got to protect it.  People can’t do something themselves, they want to tell you that you can’t do it.  You want something?  Go get it.

The worst days bring out the best in you

It’s often some of my worst days are the best days […] Because it takes you, takes you out to the edge of your experience, and to the edge of human experience, and that, that’s a great place to be. So, you know, often we’ve had epic struggles for survival or totally epic days and they’re the best days. They bring out the best in you.

Jon Muir

For consideration: Jon Muir climbed the Mount Everest, crossed Australia from south to north alone by foot and walked to the north pole.

Putting yourself into a secure controlled environment may lead to a lack of of life and being alive. I recommend to rather feel pain than feeling nothing at all.
